About us
Learn more about our company, our mission and the values we build Local Reporter with.
Our Mission
Anyone should be able to tell what is happening, and any outlet should be able to air it. At Local Reporter we put a TV crew's tool —record, describe, send— in your hands, on the phone you already carry.
Our Purpose
A local story goes uncovered because there is no camera and no crew on the spot. Our reason to exist is to remove that bottleneck: whoever is there records and sends it, and the outlet receives the content with the story details to decide whether to air or publish it. Citizens, associations, town councils, emergency services, production companies and media all work with the same tool.
Our Values
Operational simplicity
Record, describe and send in under a minute. If the app needs explaining, the app is wrong.
The reporter's independence
No gear and no technical skills required: the app only asks for what the outlet needs to make a decision.
Clear authorship and rights
Whoever records keeps authorship and ownership of the content; the outlet only evaluates it and, where applicable, airs or publishes it.
Transparent status
Received, under review, aired or published, or rejected: the reporter always knows what happened to the story, with no phone calls or emails in between.
Pragmatic innovation
No decorative features: every part of the platform exists so that a piece of content gets aired or published.
Long-term commitment
We inherit ARANOVA's long-term view of service: the Event plan archive keeps a channel's content for ten years.

From wiring up TV stations to putting one in your pocket
Local Reporter wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born in the years ARANOVA has spent connecting the audiovisual world with the Internet, integrating systems in TV stations, radio stations and outlets that had been broadcasting the same way for decades.
The same gap showed up every time: the small story —the one from the village, the neighbourhood, the incident only one person saw— never made it to air, because there was no crew on the spot and no quick way to send what had been recorded.
With a phone in almost everyone's pocket, recording stopped being the problem and everything else became it: where it goes, with what details, whether it arrived, how it is kept. We built Local Reporter to solve exactly that.
Today the app records or uploads the video, photo, audio or live stream, asks for the story details and delivers it to the destination channel or show. The outlet decides whether to air it and the sender follows its status in the backoffice. Everything else is infrastructure: storage and transcoding on Aranova Cloud hold each channel's catalogue.
Thank you for telling what is happening.
